National Organizations Fighting to Keep U.S. Roads Safe

The three most common causes of car accidents in the U.S. are distracted driving, drunk driving, and speeding. These three auto accident causes everything from minor scratches and dent, requiring collision repair services and some legal paperwork to serious crashes with fatal injuries.


Thankfully, there are plenty of organizations across the country that are doing everything they can to make the roads safer and rid American streets of these dangerous situations and crimes.


Distracted Driving


Here are some organizations committed to stopping distracted driving:



  1. NETS -- The Network of Employers for Traffic Safety is a collaborative group of employer road safety professionals whose objective is to advance road safety for not only their employees, but their family members, and members of their communities, as well.

  2. NSC -- The National Safety Council offers extensive research on distracted driving, with all kinds of information on commercial drivers, cognitive distraction, texting, and state laws.

  3. DIAD -- Drop It and Drive's stated mission is to stop distracted driving by raising public awareness to the point that talking and texting behind the wheel because as socially unacceptable as drinking and driving.


Drunk Driving


Here are some organizations committed to stopping drunk driving:



  1. MADD -- Mothers Against Drunk Driving is one of the most popular and successful organization fighting for safer U.S. roads. MADD has the mission of completely stopping drunk driving, preventing underage drinking, and supporting the victims of this horrendous crime.

  2. IDDPA -- The International Drunk Driving Prevention Association fight against drunk driving on an international level, and not just across the United States.

  3. TADD -- Teens Against Drunk Driving shows that many teens are committed to putting an end to this dangerous crime, as well. Its mission: The eradication of the preventable, violent act of drunk, distracted, and destructive driving.


Speeding and Aggressive Driving


Here are some organizations committed to stopping aggressive driving:



  1. NNW -- National Neighborhood Watch communities across the country are tackling speeding and reckless driving in order to preserve neighborhood safety and improve overall quality of life.

  2. NHTSA -- The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration provides guides and toolkits to help spread the message about safe driving, including tips on what you can do immediately after encountering an aggressive driver on the road.

  3. GHSA -- The Governors Highway Safety Association is taking steps to make profess toward zero deaths on American roadways. The GHSA recommends that states address speeding through targeted enforcement in school and work zones, since approaches in these areas have a higher degree of public support.
